‘Willie’ Tait was an RAF Pilot who led an inspired career in Bomber Command throughout the war, but he is possibly best remembered for his attacks against the Tirpitz. After several attempts, some in appalling conditions, it was Tait who dropped the first Tallboy bomb on the Tirpitz, that finally sank the German battleship on 12 November 1944. He was awarded a Bar to his DFC and a third Bar to his DSO during the time he led 617 Squadron, and by the end of the war had flown over 100 operational sorties.

This fantastic piece is guaranteed totally correct and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

It measures 35xm x 35cm is framed in gun metal grey. It contains Taits original autograph a super picture of a Lancaster bomber and RAF wings. All these items including the original signature are treble-mounted in laser-cut museum quality board and are framed.
